Terms and conditions
Last updated: 17 September 2026
These terms govern your use of the Verimail website, dashboard, API and file verification service (together, "Verimail" or "the service"). The service is provided by Verimail Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 14045644), registered office 71 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
Verimail checks whether an email address can receive mail. For each address we return a verdict (deliverable, undeliverable, risky or unknown), the reason for it, and on request the evidence behind it. A verdict reflects what the receiving mail server told us at the time of the check. Mail servers change their answers, some accept every address, and some refuse to answer; a verdict is therefore information to base a decision on, not a guarantee that a message will or will not be delivered.
The service is available as an API, as a dashboard, and as a file verification pipeline. Every verdict and reason is defined on the result codes page, which forms part of these terms.
2. Accounts and API keys
You must provide accurate account information and keep it current. You are responsible for everything done with your account and your API keys. Keep your keys secret; if a key is exposed, reset it from the dashboard and tell us. The service is intended for businesses and professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18.
3. Acceptable use
You may only submit email addresses that you have the right to process. You are the data controller for the addresses you submit; we act as your data processor (see the GDPR page and the privacy policy). You must not use the service:
- to verify addresses you have harvested, scraped, purchased without a lawful basis, or otherwise have no right to process;
- to build or clean lists for unsolicited bulk email or any activity that breaches anti-spam law;
- to probe, overload or interfere with the service, to circumvent rate limits or the free tier, or to resell the service without our written agreement;
- in a way that damages the reputation of our verification infrastructure with mail providers.
We may rate-limit, suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
4. Credits, plans and what is billed
Verifications are paid for with credits. Monthly plans include a number of credits that renew on your billing date; unused plan credits do not carry over. Pay-as-you-go credits never expire. If you have both, plan credits are used first. The free tier gives 100 verifications a month with no card.
One credit is charged for each address that receives a verdict: deliverable, undeliverable or risky. We do not charge for a result of unknown (the mail server would not answer, or your timeout ran out), for addresses that fail the syntax check, or, in files, for duplicate rows, rows still waiting on their mail server when the file was written, and rows never reached because you stopped the file. For a file, credits for every row are reserved when you start it and everything that did not get a verdict is credited back when the file ends. The result codes page states, for every result, whether it is billed.
When an account has no credits left, the API answers HTTP 402 and files cannot be started. Prices are on the pricing page; we may change them with at least 30 days' notice by email, and a change never affects credits you have already bought.
5. Payments and refunds
Purchases are made through Paddle.com, our merchant of record and authorised reseller. Paddle's terms apply to the purchase itself, Paddle issues the invoice, and refund requests are handled with Paddle under its refund policy. Credits that have been used are not refundable. Remaining credits are lost when an account is deleted; contact us before deleting an account if you want a refund considered.
6. Your data
How we handle the addresses you submit, your account data and request logs is set out in the privacy policy. In short: addresses sent to the API are not stored, and appear in request logs for 30 days; uploaded files, their result files and working data are deleted 30 days after upload, or as soon as you delete the file. A data processing agreement is available on request.
7. Availability and support
We work to keep the service available at all times, but we do not promise uninterrupted operation, and we may suspend the service for maintenance or for security reasons. Support is by email at support@verimail.io. Service levels apply only where agreed in writing.
8. Intellectual property
The service, its software, documentation and branding belong to Verimail Ltd or its licensors. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms. You keep all rights to the data you submit and to the results we return to you.
9. Warranties
The service is provided as is. We do not warrant that a verdict is correct in every case, that a deliverable address will accept a given message, that an undeliverable address will reject one, or that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted. Nothing in these terms limits any warranty that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, data or business, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from the service. Our total liability to you for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in that period. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of section 3, including any claim that you had no right to process an address you submitted.
12. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that is used to abuse the service, or that has been inactive for more than 24 months, giving notice where practicable. On termination your right to use the service ends; sections 8 to 11 and 14 survive.
13. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. For a material change we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to the address on your account before it takes effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the new terms; if you do not agree, stop using the service before then.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
